The Doncaster Baseball Club would like to congratulate Michael Daykin and Kathy Welsh who were named Club Champions at the Vote Count on Saturday night.
Daykin, or Pickles as he is better known around the club, began the season in the infield, although took over the majority of the pitching duties after injuries to a couple of the club's top line starters.
Pickles won the Lew Lewington Memorial Trophy polling 52 votes, well clear from Slade Squire who impressed all season with the bat, and Brendan McDonald who polled highly despite not pitching after the Christmas break.
In the women's award, pitcher Kathy Welsh claimed her first Samantha Hamilton Trophy with 22 votes, just one ahead of Amy Collins, with the award's namesake, Samantha Hamilton, another two votes back.
After missing last season due to injury, Welsh's return in season 2011/12 has been nothing short of spectacular, with the hard-throwing right-hander leading her team to the minor premiership.
In just her second full season with the club, Collins' season cannot go unmentioned, with a stand out season from the two-hole hitter and left-handed catcher across all facets of the game.
All the club's awards will be announced at the 38th annual Doncaster Presentation Night on Friday May 4 at the Manningham Club.
