DBC Junior Girls clinic a great success
Saturday February 19, 2011.
On Saturday February 19, the Doncaster Baseball Club hosted over 25 girls aged 8-16 from all over Melbourne in a two hour Junior Girls clinic at Deep Creek Reserve.
They received coaching from six current Doncaster senior women's players, including three of Australia's 2010 Women's World Cup silver medal winning team, Amy McCann, Samantha Hamilton and Bronwyn Gell, and current Victorian team member Erin Collins.
The girls began the session with baseball specific warm up drills and games, and were then guided through skills stations which worked on individual techniques such as infield, outfield, hitting, pitching, running and fielding.
And at the end, all participants received a free sausage sizzle and drink, with special thanks to John & Sandy Cliff for organising the BBQ!
A number of the participants also stayed at Deep Creek to watch the Doncaster senior women's Division 1 and 2 teams in action in the BV Summer League.

Doncaster hosts Junior Girls Baseball Series Open Day
Sunday July 18, 2010
On Sunday July 18, the Doncaster Baseball club hosted the first North-East Junior Girls Baseball Series session at Deep Creek Reserve, and it proved a tremendous success.
For two hours on a beautful Melbourne winter day, 16 girls aged 8-13 from all over north-east Melbourne trained under the guidance of some highly qualified and experienced coaches.
The program was coordinated by current Doncaster BC member Amy McCann, a current Australian and Victorian team member and and Level 2 Coach.
Assisting her during the session was fellow Australian team member Sinead Flanigan and current Doncaster senior womens players Erin Collis, Georgia Page, Lana Holien and Beth Doherty.
The girls took part in baseball specific warm up drills, and were then guided through skills stations which worked on individual techniques such as catching, hitting, running and fielding, plus throwing. And with a speed gun testing the girls arms, there was much competition throughout each group!
The day concluded with a yardball game which allowed all girls to put the newly learned skills to test.
