It was a fantastic come from behind win from the Dragons on Sunday against fourth placed Berwick at the weekend.

Facing former Australian pitcher Simone Wearne on the mound, the Doncaster team which is primarily composed the club's summer 3s players and those new to the game, held their own against the former world cup representative's arsenal of fastballs, curveballs and change ups, collecting nine hits and scoring six runs.

On the mound for the Dragons, fourteen-year-old Erin Collis pitched two strong innings before the Dodgers hit back in the third with three runs.

Peta Collins relieved in the third and, in what was only her second appearance for the season, she would hold the Dodgers to just one run in the second half of the game.

And despite trailing 5-1 after four innings, the Dragons never gave up, rallying in sensational fashion to score five runs in the last two innings to take the game 6-5 in a nail biter.

The game ended in spectacular style in the bottom of the sixth when the Dragons turned one of the best double plays seen in womens baseball. With the tying run on third and winning run on first with only one out, a pick off to first resulted in two run down plays nabbing the runner at home and then at third, to end the game.

With the bat, Peta Collins collected two hits including a double and two RBIs, whilst some great knocks were made by Collis and Georgia Page who both picked up doubles.

Nancy Duncan was also solid with a mammoth triple to the fence, with Collins plus Fiona Jury and Patricia Dennis coming through in the final inning to help deliver the win.

The team now moves to 9-5, and will now play Sandringham next Sunday afternoon as part of a triple header at Doncaster.
