Well the first weekend of Junior baseball is finally here !!
This Sunday (14 October) all U12 teams (State and Metro) are participating in a Round Robin to held at Cheltenham . MEL 87 F2, Kingston Heath Reserve, Farm Rd, Cheltenham.
The Doncaster U12 Metro team will play 3 games. The first game is at 9 am and the 3rd game will finish at 1:45pm. We need the kids there for the whole day.
You will need to be at Cheltenham no later than 8:15 am and you need to be dressed in uniform, cleats on and ready to warm-up. Your first game is on Diamond 10 – just look at the map near the Canteen to find out where it is. Being late will not show your commitment to the coach or to your team.
This is a great opportunity for the coaches to have the kids play in different positions and see how the other teams look. It is lots of fun and lots of playing time for the kids.
All Junior teams need a Scorer and a Team Manager. I am more than happy to give some training to the Scorer(s). It would be good to have a couple of people that are willing to score. Maybe have a go at the Round Robin (copy from the person next to you) and then we can have a session next week.
U12 Metro
Philippa Shantz has volunteered to be Team Manager - Tthank you!. Philippa will put together a Contact List (names, numbers, email, parents, etc…), write-up a Match Report each week to put on the Website and take some photos for the website. And every now and then collect or disperse some information.
U12 Metro - Your coach is Tom Shantz. His mobile number is 0411 644 126. Philippa’s mobile number is 0400 412 556.
Please remember that all players selected to play on the Metro team have training on Thursday. If you are not able to make training, you should contact Tom or Philippa. It is important everyone trains to ensure we give our best on game day, so you should make every effort to make all trainings.
We should be receiving the fixture for the rest of the season next week from the VBA.
Your home games will be at Serpells (MEL 33 K8, Burleigh Road , Templestowe ). We will need parents to mark out the ground and set up the back net before every home game. We are trying to find a storage place in Serpells Primary to put the nets, the line marker and the benches. Please be ready to assist. Hugh McGrath is going to initially mark out the ground this weekend and put in some markers. But the team will have to mark the lines for every home game.
Have a great time this weekend.
GO DRAGONS !!
