Congratulations to Doncaster players Courtney Foura, Shelby Henning, Courtney White-Dennis and Bethany Doherty who have all been selected in the 2007 U16 Victorian Elite Girls Baseball team.
3 Victorian junior girls teams have been selected following trials over the past few weeks. U16 Elite, U16 Development and U14 teams were selcted and they will play a 3 day interstate tournament against teams from NSW March 30-April 1 at Werribee BC.
14 year olds Courtney Foura and Shelby Henning spent most of their season in the Womens 2s at Doncaster in Division 2 forming a youthful 3B/SS combination, whilst Courtney Whyte-Dennis and Beth Dothery, also 14, were part of the Division 4 Premiership winning side with the 3B team.
Doncaster Senior Women's Player Amy McCann, Head Coach of the U16 Elite team, looks forward to seeing the girls in action for Victoria. "Its great for the girls to have these opportunities to play in such teams and tournaments with girls their ages." she said. "The girls had a great time in Sydney last year and played really well. We look to going one step further this year."
Special mentions to Doncaster 'Junior Girls Training Squad' members who were also selected: Lani Campbell - U16 Elite Team; Caitlin Donnelly, Bronwyn Gell and Madeline Parris - U16 Development Team; Adele Parris and Heather Wootton - U14 Team.
