The combined Doncaster/Essendon U15 Girls team has had a big win in the first game of the BV Under 15 Girls Competition.
Playing a composite team from Port Melbourne, the girls piled on the runs to win 18-1, including a grand slam by Bronwyn Gell.
The Doncaster /Essendon team, playing with only 8 players after 2 players unselfishly went to play for Port who only had 6, had a great time and learned a great deal throughout the game.
Pitchers Bronwyn Gell, Nikkii Shaw and Courtney Foura held the opposition well, with great hitting from Bronwyn, Larni Campbell, Madeleine Parris and Heather Wooton.
Coach Amy McCann was impressed with the girls and the way they gelled in their first game together. "We have girls from Bendigo, Wangaratta, Sunbury, La Trobe Valley, the Diamond Valley as well as around the Doncaster area and many actually met for the first time on Saturday. They way that they cheered each other on and played as a team was great!"
The girls next face Werribee on Saturday at Moorabbin. It is a 4 team 6 week series with finals.
We are always looking for new U15 girls players for our team. If you are interested in playing, please call Amy McCann on 0425 758 989 or email doncasterbaseballclub@yahoo.com.au
